Trying out new things

I finally started a pair of socks for myself. I would have started these weeks ago, but the husband tidied up around here at some point, and he has put my ball of yarn in a very secure place. So secure in fact, that I can't find it anywhere. Today I gave up and bought a new ball. (So, naturally, I'll find the missing ball tomorrow.) Nothing new about me knitting socks, you say? Well, that's true. But I'm knitting my socks on mini circulars for the first time ever. At this point, I'm not completely convinced that I like them, we'll see how I feel after knitting the whole pair. :) (Actually, I'll probably switch to dpns when I get to the heel..) Here's the very beginning
Oh, I realized that I forgot to show you my new earrings. I made these a couple weeks ago, but forgot to add them to my last post. Nothing special about them, just a pair of dangly skull earrings. :)

  2. torirot - I could have sworn that I got my mini circs from Get Knitted, but they don't seem to have addi's anymore.. Now I'm starting to wonder if I didn't get them from Pavi yarns after all. At least they seem to carry them: http://www.paviyarns.co.uk/shop/423/839/835/index.htm
You have a nice weekend too. :)

  3. My hands start aching with the mini circs as I cannot get a good grip with them. Rather use ML or DPN's.

  5. Nunt - I haven't found a good grip yet on the mini's, and my thumb hurts. Then again, my thumb starts hurting no matter which needles I use. :/

Dorothy - I haven't decided if I like them or not, but I bdo hope I end up liking them, because I bought the mini's in three sizes..

    Amybel - so do I! :D

  6. I didn't like the short circular needle. It was too short and it was hard to knit! Or maybe my hands are just too big.

  7. Artesanity - I think my hands are too big too. :/ But I'm not going to give up just yet.

  8. Love the earrings and the green nails :D I'll be looking forward to reading about your experience with the mini circulars, I've thought about getting them myself, but I don't know if it be comfortable to knit with them. They probably are faster though :)

  9. Alexandra - knitting with the mini circs is faster, but it's also affecting my gauge a *lot*. I usually knit very tightly on dpns, and my knitting on the minis' is very, very loose. I switched to dpns when I got to the heel, because I like my socks to be tightly knit. :)
